ARTIST BIO AND STATEMENT

I was born in Athens Greece in 1976. My studies were business orientated by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in applied economics (IST Studies) and a master’s degree in international economics banking and finance (Cardiff Business School).  Despite my economic background art in every form was always a big thing in my life. My first love was music. I started collecting and refining my music collection from all over the world (I still do). But it was soon after I started also building my visual art collection. By shaping my visual map it was more than clear that I had to try to paint myself. There were many attempts without any interesting results but then some years ago I started experimenting with finger painting on I pad. It was handy, didn’t require a studio by that time and it was fun. Then the learning of the Photoshop broadened my horizons and the limits of what I could do.

This helped me have o portfolio to show to people who really knew about art. And there was George Lyras (art director, painter) and a good friend from the navy with a studio. Acting as a mentor and letting me paint in his studio-office (special thanks to his co-workers) I started creating artworks in large numbers and sizes.

Mostly influenced from everyday life problems trying to find a meaning by researching and piling off the vails of modern society a pattern in my art started to appear. You cannot exist in this society very long without having some anger about the inequality and about how the system really works. I realized that this is what I wanted to say with my art so far and some questions cannot depict this more accurately.

Can art help humanity to reverse climate change?

Can art make you realize todays modern society pitfalls?

Can art lift your spirituality to a higher level?

Can art help you spot universal problems? (overpopulation, nuclear hazards, singularity, pollution, sustainability, animal mass extinction).

Can art raise your awareness towards a better future?

Can art make you find solutions?

Well there are some very difficult questions to tackle with anyway after all, art is what you make it in an individual level.

It’s an ongoing proses in a journey that I have just started. I believe that humanity in its short history (around two million years) is facing for the first time many interconnected threats and under this current system that led us here it seems impossible to win.

The truth is that the society as a whole has many pathogenies and the system that runs this society not only fixes them but perpetuates them and lives out of hem. So spotting the problem is one thing which is the the easy thing finding solutions is the difficult one. But spotting the problem and analyzing it from every possible angle shedding as much lite as possible helps you realize. And boom something magical happens the human mind when stretched can never go back to its original dimensions. Then you are alert you know that what you are doing it all wrong. You have only one choice to change

Please stay tuned.
